The Role Of The Laity: On A Mission
The following presentation, developed by Yeshua Institute Fellow Dick Kunnert, draws from a host of resources — including scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, papal speeches and key leadership concepts from the Catholic Vision for Leading Like Jesus — to explore the church’s teaching regarding the key role the laity play in the life of the body of Christ.
While the Catholic Vision for Leading Like Jesus briefly discusses the role of the laity, this presentation outlines the topic in much greater and richer detail.
The presentation also challenges laity to respond to the church’s call by committing to creating a mission statement and incorporating necessary spiritual habits into their everyday lives. In that way, lay Catholics are better able to maintain their dedication to serving as disciples of Jesus Christ.
No matter whether you are laity, clergy or religious, we hope you find this material useful in your spiritual quest to develop as disciples of Christ and to be S3 Leaders — Servants, Stewards and Shepherds — in the days ahead.
