After relocating to the mountains of Western North Carolina from Florida and before GPS systems became available, I was confused about how to get from point A to B. I needed directions. When I asked, the answer was, “You can’t get there from here.”
Humorous? Perhaps. Frustrating? Yes.
Today, all one needs is a smart phone, the proper application (“app”), an address and off you go with a guide to give you directions, assuring that you’ll arrive where and when you need to be.
Despite the good news about simple geographic directions, the larger picture is not nearly so clear. Our world is in turmoil, causing many to search for answers for the perfect path to peace with God.
Fortunately, for those who are baptized and who put their faith in Christ Jesus, the answer is the same today as it was 2000 years ago: We have God’s Perfect Solution – a premium GPS -- to find the Peace of God.
Jesus promises us and teaches us how to find His Perfect Peace through the Holy Spirit.
I have told you this while I am with you. The Advocate, the Holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name -- he will teach you everything and remind you of all that [I] told you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. (John 14:25-27, NABRE)
If we are smart, we will not let the current turmoil that is swirling around us deter us from Jesus’ promises. Rather, we should rely on the Holy Spirit, He is always God’s Perfect Solution for us.
Therefore, we can be encouraged and assured that we have the Peace we need and are searching for.
Just ask.
- Seek Jesus Peace daily with the Holy Spirit’s help, receiving the assurance of His Peace in your life.
- Pray to The Holy Spirit asking for his Gifts and Fruits to fill your hearts and minds.
- Share his Love, his Peace, his Gifts and Fruits with your family, friends, strangers, and co-workers.
